An Afternoon at the Park

Pack a picnic dinner, pick up the sporting equipment from storage, and hit one of these Delran parks with a wide range of different amenities (Visit the Township of Delran website for a complete listing of parks.):

  • Ken Johnston Park (also known as Summerhill/Grande) - This park has a football field, little league baseball diamond, basketball courts and a roller hockey rink.

  • Tenby Chase Playground -- Provides approximately 10 acres of open wooded space.

In the summer of 2012, the township of Delran broke ground on a state-of-the-art recreation building-the Delran Recreation Complex. "The complex will feature four ball diamonds, a multipurpose turf field, accessible playground, concession stand, restrooms, walking and hiking trails and eventually a community garden. All told, officials estimate the park will cost about $4.5 million."

Storing Kids Stuff at Home

As any parent knows well, having kids means having lots of stuff, especially if they're involved in extracurricular activities. What are the best ways to store these items in your home?

  • Use open baskets that make it easy to toss stuff in and take it out.
  • Cubbies are ideal for storing shoes, hats, scarves and smaller sporting equipment.
  • Place hooks in the mudroom or entryway to quickly hang jackets, coats and sweatshirts.

Brian Kramer of Better Homes and Gardens suggests you can also, "include one washable canvas bin or plastic basket to collect soggy pool supplies, used rain gear and messy sandbox toys."

Put Kids Stuff in Storage

When a thing's usefulness has come and gone, but you're not quite ready to part with it, or you intend to save it for your next child, declutter your home or garage by putting it in storage. Consider moving these items into a storage unit to free up space:

  • That special crib, changing table or dresser
  • Gate barriers
  • Strollers
  • Tricycles/bicycles
  • Large toys like swings, activity centers and play kitchens
  • Toys

A post on suggests rotating toys to keep kids engaged. "Take a half or a third of them to a storage area and then switch with the remaining items after three or four months."

If you are saving baby clothes or bedding for your next baby or for your child when he or she grows up, store these priceless items in a climate-controlled storage unit that will keep them safe and sound. Find a storage unit near you by using this search tool.
